Bench America 3 - Elgin, Illinois - October 1, 2005

I qualified for this meet with a tough third attempt 606.2 at the WABDL National Championships in Portland, Oregon in August, 2005.  I was totally blown away to be invited to this prestigious meet.  It was an honor to be on the same platform with so many of the greatest benchers in the sport today.

Waiting to warm up..
. . . and waiting . . . and waiting.
With Matt Cole, a sensational Junior lifters.  Matt also sports one of the nicest sets of glutes in the sport.
My name up on the screen.
Waiting for the bar loaded signal.
Psyching up for my opener.  It was a disaster; the bar went back into the rack and pinned my right pinky knuckle.
Getting the hand off from Roger Ryan, one of the greatest Masters benchers on the planet.
Back for second attempt with Ryan Kennelly. in the background.
I was really determined to get it right this time.
Total concentration.
Setting up for the hand off.
This is how close I was to locking out 290 kilos . . . it would have earned me second place.
With 1200 lb. squatter Mike "The Mule" Miller.
Blood!  If you have a bad day but you're bleeding, it's all good.
With IPF World Champion Wade Hooper.
