Japan Trip - March 2006
I spent Spring Break of 2006 in Japan with Dai. The highlight of my trip was a visit to the Illini Powerlifting sister club: The Okayama University Powerlifting Team in Okayama, Japan.
Okayama members in uniform going through their stretches.
IPF Junior World Record holder Toru Miyake trying a board press. His arch is huge.
Japan National Champion and Junior National Record holder Toshiteru Okamura getting ready to pull 300 kilos at 181.
Okamura is simply amazing!
One of the lightweights tries on my F6 Super Plus . . .
The obligatory post-workout poses.
Lots of food and drink at the team house.
. . . and lots of sake, one of my favorite drinks.
. . and the obligatory post-meal poses.
Goodbye at Okayama Station.
One of the many temples in historic Kyoto.
Showing the Illini colors . . .
That's Dai in the orange jacket.
Anyone for a Sand Witch?
In the old days, Japanese firefighters would carry this to a fire. In the old days, I would have been a fire engine.
This speaks volumes about the institution of marriage.
Time for serious drinking in Tokyo with former students from Dokkyo University and Senshu University.
